This article examines how Dante’s legacy can support a responsible model of cultural entrepreneurship in Florence. It brings together scholarship on literary and cultural tourism, historical studies, and official documentation concerning the city’s historic centre. It proposes a polycentric ‘Dante Ecosystem’ linking monuments, museums, bookshops, educational institutions, the performing arts, crafts, and digital services. The model is based on thematic routes, participatory experiences, evidence-based digital interpretation, and collaborative governance. The article concludes that the economic development of Dante’s heritage can help diversify tourism in Florence only when it is tied to the protection of authenticity, resident participation, universal accessibility, and visitor-flow management.
